By Saurav Mehra Dance Plus, also written as Dance+, is one of India’s popular Hindi dance reality television shows. The competition provides a platform for solo dancers, duos and dance crews to showcase different dance forms, including contemporary, hip-hop, popping, lyrical, freestyle, B-boying and fusion.
Dance Plus premiered on 26 July 2015 on Star Plus. Choreographer and filmmaker Remo D’Souza has remained the Super Judge throughout the show, while well-known dancers and choreographers have served as team captains and mentors. Raghav Juyal hosted the first six seasons and became closely associated with the programme. The seventh edition was rebranded as Dance Plus Pro. As of 2026, seven seasons of Dance Plus have been completed.

Dance Plus Season 1 Winner – V Company
The first season of Dance Plus premiered on 26 July 2015 on Star Plus. Raghav Juyal hosted the programme, while Remo D’Souza served as the Super Judge.
The three captains were Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Sumeet Nagdev. Contestants were divided among their teams and competed through different individual and group dance challenges.
Mumbai-based hip-hop dance crew V Company, representing Team Dharmesh, emerged as the first winner of Dance Plus.
Question Mark Crew finished as the first runner-up.
V Company became popular for its large-scale group choreography, synchronization and energetic hip-hop performances.
The Season 1 finale aired on 11 October 2015, establishing Dance Plus as a major dance reality programme on Indian television.
Dance Plus Season 2 Winner – Tanay Malhara
Dance Plus Season 2 premiered on 2 July 2016.
Raghav Juyal returned as host and Remo D’Souza continued as Super Judge. The captain lineup consisted of Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak.
Solo dancer Tanay Malhara, from Team Dharmesh, emerged as the winner.
Wild Ripperz Crew, also representing Team Dharmesh, finished as the first runner-up.
Piyush Bhagat secured the second runner-up position, while Sushant Khatri finished behind the top three.
Tanay became known for his contemporary dance performances and ability to combine flexibility, control and emotional presentation.
The grand finale aired on 25 September 2016.
Dance Plus Season 3 Winner – Bir Radha Sherpa
Season 3 premiered on 1 July 2017 with the tagline “Ek Level Up.”
Raghav Juyal continued as host, while Remo D’Souza returned as Super Judge. Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak once again served as captains.
Bir Radha Sherpa, representing Team Punit, won Dance Plus Season 3.
Amardeep Singh Natt from Team Dharmesh finished as the first runner-up.
Aryan Patra secured the second runner-up position, while Shivani and Tarun finished fourth.
Bir impressed viewers with a dance style combining B-boying and contemporary movement. His victory also gave Team Punit its first Dance Plus championship.
The finale was held on 24 September 2017.
Dance Plus Season 4 Winner – Chetan Salunkhe
Dance Plus Season 4 premiered on 6 October 2018.
Raghav Juyal remained the main host, with Sugandha Mishra joining as co-host. Remo D’Souza served as Super Judge, while Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan and Punit Pathak continued as captains.
Chetan Salunkhe, representing Team Punit, emerged as the winner.
Dance duo Sujan and Aaanchel finished as the first runners-up.
Vartika Jha secured the second runner-up position, while dance crew V Unbeatable finished fourth.
Chetan became particularly known for his popping performances and distinctive body control.
The grand finale aired on 2 February 2019, giving Punit Pathak his second consecutive winning season as captain.
Dance Plus Season 5 Winner – Rupesh Bane
Dance Plus Season 5 premiered on 9 November 2019.
Raghav Juyal returned as host, with Sugandha Mishra making appearances during the season. Remo D’Souza continued as Super Judge.
Season 5 expanded the captain lineup to four:
- Dharmesh Yelande
- Punit Pathak
- Karishma Chavan
- Suresh Mukund
Rupesh Bane, representing Team Dharmesh, won Dance Plus Season 5.
Janam Crew from Team Punit finished as the first runner-up.
Subroto and Sanchita secured the second runner-up position, while Deepika and Rupesh finished fourth.
Rupesh competed as a solo contemporary dancer and impressed the judges with his flexibility, technique and emotional performances.
The grand finale aired on 22 February 2020.
His victory gave Dharmesh Yelande another Dance Plus championship after V Company in Season 1 and Tanay Malhara in Season 2.
Dance Plus Season 6 Winner – Harsh, Sneha and Tejas
Dance Plus Season 6 premiered digitally in September 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar and was later telecast on Star Plus.
Raghav Juyal returned as host for his sixth consecutive season, while Remo D’Souza continued as Super Judge.
The three captains were:
- Punit Pathak
- Shakti Mohan
- Salman Yusuff Khan
The trio Harsh, Sneha and Tejas, representing Team Shakti, emerged as the Season 6 winners.
Dhananjay Joshi, also from Team Shakti, finished as runner-up.
The season was particularly significant for captain Shakti Mohan, as it gave her team its first Dance Plus championship.
Harsh, Sneha and Tejas became known for their synchronized performances, creative choreography and strong teamwork.
The Disney+ Hotstar run of the season concluded in October 2021, while the television version continued afterward on Star Plus.
Dance Plus Season 7 Winner – Ritesh Pal
The seventh edition was rebranded as Dance Plus Pro.
It premiered on 11 December 2023 on Disney+ Hotstar and later aired on Star Plus.
Season 7 introduced an important hosting change. After Raghav Juyal hosted the first six seasons, Sushant Khatri and Tushar Shetty became the hosts of Dance Plus Pro.
Remo D’Souza returned as Super Judge.

Solo contemporary dancer Ritesh Pal, representing Team Shakti, emerged as the winner of Dance Plus Pro.
Rakesh Sahu, representing Team Punit, finished as the first runner-up.
Other leading contestants included Ashish and Himanshu, Aman and Kunal, Ram-Ramesh-Kishan, Brother’s Bond Crew and several other performers selected for the main competition.
Ritesh impressed through his contemporary dance technique, storytelling and emotional performances.
The season concluded digitally on 29 February 2024, with the television run ending shortly afterward.
His victory also gave Shakti Mohan her second consecutive Dance Plus championship as captain, following the Season 6 win of Harsh, Sneha and Tejas.
Dance Plus Hosts Over the Years
Raghav Juyal became one of the personalities most strongly associated with Dance Plus.
Known for his comic timing and distinctive slow-motion dance style, Raghav hosted Seasons 1 through 6.
Sugandha Mishra appeared as a co-host during Season 4 and also made appearances in later episodes.
The hosting lineup changed for Dance Plus Pro, when Sushant Khatri and Tushar Shetty took over for Season 7.
Remo D’Souza as Super Judge
Remo D’Souza has served as the Super Judge throughout Dance Plus.
A choreographer, dancer and filmmaker, Remo has remained the central judging personality of the programme since Season 1.
His role differs from that of the captains. While captains mentor their respective teams, Remo evaluates performers across all teams and plays an important part in challenges, selections and competition decisions.

Dance Plus uses a team-based mentoring format in which experienced choreographers guide contestants.

Dance Plus Format
Dance Plus accepts different types of dance acts rather than limiting the competition to one style.
Contestants can participate as:
- Solo dancers
- Duos
- Trios
- Dance crews
Performers showcase dance styles such as contemporary, hip-hop, popping, locking, lyrical, B-boying, freestyle and fusion.
Contestants are divided into teams led by captains. The captains mentor their performers and prepare them for weekly challenges.
Remo D’Souza evaluates performances as Super Judge, while different seasons have used features such as Dance Showdowns, Double Plus, international challenges and public voting.
Contestants are gradually eliminated until the strongest performers reach the grand finale.
The winner can therefore be an individual dancer, a duo, trio or a complete dance crew.
Dance Plus Season 8 Status
As of August 2026, Dance Plus has completed seven seasons, including the seventh edition titled Dance Plus Pro.
Ritesh Pal remains the latest Dance Plus winner, having won Dance Plus Pro in 2024.
A completed Dance Plus Season 8 has not yet produced an officially declared winner. Therefore, no Season 8 champion should currently be added to the winners list.
Final Words
Dance Plus has become one of India’s recognised dance reality competitions since its debut in 2015.
V Company became the first winner, followed by Tanay Malhara, Bir Radha Sherpa, Chetan Salunkhe, Rupesh Bane and the trio Harsh, Sneha and Tejas.
The seventh edition, Dance Plus Pro, was won by Ritesh Pal, with Rakesh Sahu finishing as runner-up.
