Bigg Boss Winners List of All Seasons: Winner, Runner-Up, Host and Year

Bigg Boss is one of India’s longest-running and most watched Hindi reality television shows. Based on the international Big Brother format, the programme places a group of contestants, known as housemates, inside a specially designed house where they live with very limited contact with the outside world. Cameras and microphones record their activities throughout the day as they take part in tasks, form alliances, face nominations and try to survive evictions. Public voting plays a major role in deciding who remains in the competition and ultimately who wins the season.

The Hindi edition premiered on 3 November 2006 on Sony Entertainment Television with Arshad Warsi as host. From Season 2 onward, the programme moved to Colors TV. Over the years, Shilpa Shetty, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan have hosted the show, with Salman becoming the face most closely associated with Bigg Boss from Season 4 onward. Nineteen regular Hindi seasons have been completed. Rahul Roy became the first winner in 2007, while Gaurav Khanna is the latest completed-season winner after lifting the Season 19 trophy on 7 December 2025. Season 20 is scheduled to premiere on 6 September 2026 with Salman Khan returning as host.

Bigg Boss Hosts Over the Years

The hosting role has changed several times since the show began. Arshad Warsi hosted Season 1, Shilpa Shetty presented Season 2 and Amitabh Bachchan hosted Season 3. Salman Khan took over from Season 4 and became the programme’s longest-serving host. Sanjay Dutt shared hosting duties during Season 5, while Farah Khan presented the Halla Bol extension after Season 8. Salman has continued as the main host through Season 19 and is confirmed for Season 20.

Bigg Boss House and Format

Bigg Boss places housemates inside an isolated house where normal contact with the outside world is heavily restricted. Contestants complete weekly and special tasks, manage household duties, nominate one another and face public voting. The Confession Room is used for private conversations with Bigg Boss and, in some seasons, nomination-related decisions. The house was primarily located in Lonavala during the early and middle years, moved to Karjat for Season 5, and has been based at Film City in Mumbai from Season 13 onward.

How the Bigg Boss Format Has Changed

Although nominations and public voting remain central, nearly every season introduces a new theme or twist. These have included Heaven and Hell, Double Trouble, commoners versus celebrities, Vichitra Jodis, Toofani Seniors, a jungle setup, Bigg Boss playing the game directly, and the Dil-Dimaag-Dum and Time Ka Tandav concepts. From Season 14 onward, digital live-streaming became a much larger part of the viewing experience, giving audiences extended access beyond the edited television episodes.

Bigg Boss OTT Is Separate from the Regular Seasons

Bigg Boss OTT is a separate digital spin-off and its winners are not counted in the numbered Hindi television-season list. The OTT series produced Divya Agarwal, Elvish Yadav and Sana Makbul as winners across its three completed seasons. Therefore, the regular Bigg Boss winners list above covers the numbered Hindi television seasons only.

Final Words

Bigg Boss has produced a long line of winners since Rahul Roy became the first champion in 2007. The list includes Shweta Tiwari, Gauahar Khan, Gautam Gulati, Prince Narula, Shilpa Shinde, Sidharth Shukla, Rubina Dilaik, Tejasswi Prakash, MC Stan, Munawar Faruqui and other major reality-show personalities.
