By Saurav Mehra MTV Splitsvilla is one of India’s longest-running dating reality shows and has been a major part of MTV India’s youth programming since 2008. The show brings together young men and women in a villa where relationships, compatibility, strategy and competition are tested through tasks, dates, dome sessions and eliminations. While finding a strong connection is central to the format, contestants also need to perform well in challenges and survive changing alliances to reach the finale.
The first season premiered on 20 June 2008 with Rannvijay Singha as host. Over the years, the programme has changed locations, presenters and themes while retaining its mix of romance and competition. Sunny Leone became the host most closely associated with the later seasons, appearing from Season 7 onward. Sixteen seasons have now been completed. Vishal Karwal and Shraddha Haribhai were the first winners, while Kushal “Gullu” Tanwar and Kaira Anu won Season 16 in May 2026.
