If you have never been to Chhattisgarh, then you may have just heard about the fact that this state is known for its amazing culture, especially the tribal culture that people down there have preserved even in this modern era. Sure, many parts of this state are kinda modernised as of 2025, but if you go to the far-off places, aka the rural parts, you’ll still see the traditional side of Chhattisgarh, mainly when you see everyone wearing the traditional dress. Traditional Dress for Women Chhattisgarh

1. Pata Saree

This is an ultra-simple white cotton saree with a red or maroon border that is referred to as aal. It’s just so pretty and simple. We mean, women wear it in two different ways:

• Ganthi Marna: You tie it around your shoulder, which looks pretty cool.
• Chendra Style: Very easy for movement while working.

2. Kachchora Saree

4. Lugda & Polkha

So Lugda is just another name for saree, and Polkha is this short blouse. And many women out in rural spots wear this. Plus, it’s very colorful with cool tribal patterns. And you wear it, you know, for daily stuff and festivals too.

5. Kosa Silk Saree

So, basically, this is a very very grand occasion saree. And it is made of Kosa silk, very soft, and has this cool golden color. Like, you wear it for weddings and all religious stuff, you know. Traditional Dress for MenChhattisgarh

1. Pichhori

Now the Pichhori is a sort of lower-wear dhoti. You wrap it around the waist, you know, it falls to the knee. But if it is a wedding function, this better version, called Dulha Pichhori is worn by most men, though, most of the time with a lot of embellishments.

2. Dhoti & Kurta

This is a really common type of clothing for men. Like the dhoti, a piece of cloth that you wrap around your legs. And the kurta is pretty much a long shirt. This seems to be the case in so many states in the country that Dhoti and Kurta is the most go-to and super comfortable attire that is traditional as well. 3. Angochha & Chaddar

Well, this thin cloth called an Angochha is tied around the head or neck to keep the sun off, you know. A chadar is something worn like a shawl in winter or in ceremonies. Both give a fun-looking and respectable touch to the entire attire.

4. Kosa Silk Kurtas

So, just like all the sarees for women, men also wear Kosa silk kurtas on fancy occasions, and this fabric looks extremely shiny and royal, to be honest. This is basically what you wear to weddings and festivals and all that category of special events in life.

Jewelry and Accessories

For women:

• Suta: So it’s a thin kind of silver chain that is worn usually around the neck.
• Koundhi: And it’s a bead necklace.
• Bali and Khunti:Besides, they are like earrings.
• Kardhani: This is a silver belt around the waist.
• Bichhiya: And it’s a toe ring in the case of married women.
• Choora: Also, they are bangles, just so you know.
• Ainthi and Pounchhi: These are worn in the arms and give off that super traditional look.

For men:
