Bigg Boss Marathi is one of Maharashtra’s most popular reality television shows and the Marathi-language edition of the Bigg Boss franchise. The house shifted to Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai, where it was designed around a ‘Royal Wada’ theme. Seventeen housemates participated during the season, and the edition also introduced the Adgalichi Kholi, or jail, as part of the house setup.

Shiv Thakare won Bigg Boss Marathi Season 2 in the grand finale on 1 September 2019. Bigg Boss Marathi Season 3 Winner – Vishal Nikam

The third season was delayed during the COVID-19 period and finally premiered on 19 September 2021. Mahesh Manjrekar returned for his third consecutive season as host. The competition featured 17 housemates and continued for 98 days. The house used strong Maharashtrian design elements, with traditional visual touches incorporated into the interiors.

Vishal Nikam won Season 3 when the grand finale was held on 26 December 2021. Jay Dudhane finished as runner-up, while Vikas Patil was among the contestants who reached the final stage. Vishal stayed in the house from the opening day through the finale and secured the audience support required to become the third Bigg Boss Marathi champion.

Bigg Boss Marathi Season 4 premiered on 2 October 2022 and concluded on 8 January 2023. Mahesh Manjrekar returned as host for the fourth time. The season featured 19 housemates and ran for 98 days. Its broad concept was presented around the idea ‘All is well’, while the Bigg Boss house in Goregaon used a chawl-inspired theme and included a balcony as one of its notable design elements.

Actor Akshay Kelkar emerged as the winner of Season 4. Apurva Nemlekar finished as runner-up, with Kiran Mane, Amruta Dhongade and Rakhi Sawant among the other finalists. The finale also marked the end of Mahesh Manjrekar’s continuous run as host of the regular Marathi edition, making Season 4 an important transition point in the history of the show.

Bigg Boss Marathi Season 5 Winner – Suraj Chavan

Season 5 premiered on 28 July 2024 and brought the biggest hosting change in the franchise up to that point. Riteish Deshmukh replaced Mahesh Manjrekar and presented the season for the first time. The house, located at Film City in Mumbai, followed a maze-inspired ‘Chakravyuh’ concept. The weekend segment was also rebranded as ‘Bhaucha Dhakka’, reflecting Riteish’s on-screen identity as ‘Bhau’.

Suraj Chavan won the title in the grand finale on 6 October 2024, while singer and former Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant finished as runner-up. Bigg Boss Marathi returned for Season 6 on 11 January 2026, with Riteish Deshmukh hosting for the second consecutive season. The edition ran for 98 days and featured 21 housemates, the largest participant total among the first six seasons. The house at Film City, Mumbai used a multi-door and window-based concept designed around unpredictability and constant surveillance, while ‘Bhaucha Dhakka’ continued as the major host-led weekend segment.

Tanvi Kolte emerged as the winner when the grand finale aired on 19 April 2026. Actor Raqesh Bapat finished as the first runner-up, followed by Vishal Kotian, Anushri Mane and Deepali Sayyed in the final standings. Tanvi also received Rs. 15 lakh in cash prize money. Her victory made her the sixth Bigg Boss Marathi champion and the latest winner of the franchise as of August 2026.

Bigg Boss Marathi Hosts Over the Years

Two main hosts have presented the first six seasons of Bigg Boss Marathi. Mahesh Manjrekar hosted Seasons 1 to 4 from 2018 through January 2023. His weekend episodes became an important part of the show’s identity, as he reviewed the previous week’s events, questioned contestants about their behaviour and handled major announcements and eliminations.

Riteish Deshmukh took over from Season 5 in 2024 and returned for Season 6 in 2026. Under Riteish, the weekend interaction was branded ‘Bhaucha Dhakka’. The segment mixes criticism, humour, contestant review, announcements and eliminations while maintaining the host’s direct connection with the housemates.

Bigg Boss Marathi House and Format

The basic Bigg Boss Marathi format requires contestants, known as housemates, to live together inside a specially built house with limited access to the outside world. Cameras and microphones monitor them throughout their stay. They must manage daily duties, ration and personal relationships while participating in tasks that can affect captaincy, immunity, nominations and other advantages.

Housemates nominate fellow contestants for eviction, while public voting generally determines who remains in the competition. Wildcard contestants can enter after the season has started, and some editions have also included guests, challengers or returning participants.
